Hanze Honours students Maria and Santiago present the Honours SMBF Podcast, with conversations about different views on how to increase National Gross Happiness.
In this episode, we talk with Elayne Pas, a 41-year-old student of Accountancy at Hanze who decided to go back to school after dropping out, and Allan Maduro, a property manager in Aruba who dropped out of high school, about social pressure on drop-outs and people without higher education degrees.
The episode starts with Santiago's past experiences leading to his vision of creating awareness on the matter. According to literature, social pressure leads to "private acceptance," often leading us to change our opinion on what makes us happy.
To look for evidence that supported this view, Santiago conducted a survey with dropouts and individuals without higher education degrees as a target group. The purpose of this study was to compare their experiences with social pressure. Santiago presents the results of this survey in this episode while talking with Elayne and Allan.
